Innovative Design and Engineering
While virtually all manufacturers have traditionally constructed their medium-gauge steel safes from three pieces of material, welding a top and bottom onto a three-sided shell (representing the safe's back and sides with flanges for the front door), the result is less than perfect. Why? For one thing there is no overlap of the pieces to give added stability to the welds. Plus, the welding has to be done manually - a process called "butt" welding that creates only a surface weld, and even then, not a continuous one. But there's more: In order to smooth out the surface and make the edges look "finished", those welds must be ground down literally grinding away 60% or more of the effective weld!
